baudrates and protocols over the same communication port. Default
communication settings for port A are: input and output protocol TSIP (Binary
Standard Interface Protocol) at 115 kbit/s, 8 databits, 1 stop bit, odd parity.
Possible input protocols are TSIP, RTCM, TEXTA, TEXTB and None. Possible
output protocols are TSIP, NMEA, RTCME, HAWK, OMNIHP and None.
Communication speed (both input and output) may be set to 4800, 9600, 19k2,
38k4, 57k6 and 115k bit/s. Both protocol and communication speed for input
and output can be configured independently. The number of databits (7 or 8),
parity (odd, even or no parity) and stop bits (1 or 2) can not be set
independently; set values are valid for both input and output signals.
The different input and output protocols are described in Table 5 and Table 6.
Protocol Description
TSIP
The receiver can accept TSIP data packets from the port, for
example when remotely controlling the receiver.
RTCM
The receiver can accept RTCM data from an external DGPS
device.
TEXTA
1
The receiver can accept ASCII data from an external device
(for example an external sensor) on port B, merge it with
NMEA GPS data and output the combined data on Port A
(Message: $PTNLAG001,<up to 66 ASCII
characters>*CK<CR><LF>). The incoming data must be
limited to 66 ASCII characters and terminated by a carriage
return and line feed (hex characters 0x0D 0x0A). For the
receiver to output the combined NMEA string, NMEA must be
selected as the output protocol on Port A.
TEXTB
1
See the description for the TEXTA setting (above).
None Inputs nothing to the receiver
Table 5: 8200HP input protocols
1
Although TEXTA and TEXTB can be selected as input protocol, the TEXTA and TEXTB
functions appear not to have been implemented in firmware versions 3.10 to 3.56.
