The names of the interfaces connected to an Ethernet port are made up of the following
parts:
(a) Abbreviation for interface type
(b) Number of the Ethernet port
(c) Number of the interface
Example: ! (first interface on the first Ethernet port)
The name of the bridge group is made up of the following parts:
(a) Abbreviation for interface type
(b) Number of the bridge group
Example: # (first bridge group)
The names of the virtual interfaces connected to an Ethernet port are made up of the fol-
lowing parts:
(a) Abbreviation for interface type
(b) Number of the Ethernet port
(c) Number of the interface connected to the Ethernet port
(d) Number of the virtual interface
Example: !! (first virtual interface based on the first interface on the first Ethernet
port)
10.3.1 Interfaces
You define separately whether each interface is to operate in routing or bridging mode.
If you want to set bridging mode, you can either use existing bridge groups or create a new
bridge group.
The default setting for all existing interfaces is routing mode. When selecting the option
* >$ , for Mode / Bridge Group, a bridge group, i.e. #, # etc. is auto-
matically created and the interface is run in bridging mode.
