8.5.2 Test the safety gear
WARNING
Danger of injury from components failing
The drop test must only be carried out by a qualified
person, who has been specifically appointed by the
operating company and who is able to evaluate the
risks and assess the safe condition of the safety gear
based on his or her training, knowledge and practical
experience.
The drop test is permitted only
When no other persons are on the load platform or in the travel path.
When there are no objects in the travel path.
When the drop test is activated from a safe distance.
Execution
Evenly load the load platform (without accessories) with test weights
(225 kg) and leave them in the load platform to trigger the overload
check.
The speed required to trigger the safety gear is only attained when
the load platform is loaded.
Rotate the main switch to the position I”.
Form a loop with the pull cord and
place around the brake release lever
(1).
Let the load platform freely descend
to the ground.
Press the button UP on the manual control and move the load
platform up by approx. 6 m.
Pull on the cord from below, outside the danger area.
The brake releases and the load platform builds up an excessive speed.
The safety gear must engage after 2-3 m and stop the platform.
If this does not happen, release the pull cord or brake release lever
immediately!
