8.5.3 Safety gear replacement
GEDA safety gears must be replaced with GEDA safety gear in
accordance with the following time intervals (safety gear exchange
units).

*) If national or other rules / regulations stipulate a shorter replacement
interval, that has precedence over the replacement intervals stated
here.
 The obligation for replacement is applicable to all GEDA rack and
pinion hoists.
The only criterion applicable for replacing is the entry in the
commissioning protocol in the operating manual for the safety gear and
test log / test report / transfer protocol / documentation of the checks
(Appendix in the maintenance manual) for initial commissioning and
replacement of the safety gear.
Other criteria are not permitted (e.g. period of use / operating hours /
number of drop tests etc.).
 If not documented, the year of manufacture of the safety gear
applies!
That can result in a shorter replacement interval.
