9.4.4 Technical alarms
Color = black text, red, yellow or blue
background (depending on technical alarm
priority).
Sound = According to clinical alarm priority:
high, medium and low priority alarm sound.
Technical alarms are characterized by each
alarm having a Technical Alarm index, i.e. the
letters 'TE' followed by a unique number.
Examples include TE 12 Ventilation control
error and TE 502 Communication error. For a
comprehensive list of technical alarms and the
appropriate action, see Chapter 15, page 287.

activated, take the system out of use as
soon as possible and contact a service
technician trained and authorized by
MAQUET unless otherwise stated.
9.4.5 System messages
Color = white text, black background.
Sounds = single pulse or no sound, depending
on system message type.
Two types of system messages exist on the
system:
• Short-lived system messages. These are
displayed in the message areas for ten
seconds and are accompanied by an initial
single pulse sound, e.g. USB memory
device connected.
• Lasting system messages. These are
displayed in the message area until the
message condition has been resolved, e.g.
Perform system checkout.
9.5 Safety valves
The 'Airway pressure: High' alarm will
automatically force the system into its
expiratory state, avoiding dangerous
over-pressure situations.
In addition, the system has a built-in safety
valve which opens at 117 cmH
