Battery handling safety instructions:
• There are no user-serviceable batteries inside Harmonic products. Refer to Harmonic qualified
personnel only to service the replaceable batteries.
• There is risk of explosion if battery is serviced in any way, against Harmonic’s instructions.
• CALIFORNIA PERCHLORATE ADVISORY: Some lithium batteries may contain perchlorate material.
The following advisory is provided: "Perchlorate Material - special handling may apply, see: http://

Laser safety warnings
• Invisible laser radiation may be emitted from disconnected fibers or SFP connectors.
• Do not stare into beams or view directly with optical instruments.
• Never operate a unit with a broken fiber or with a separated fiber connector.
Electrostatic discharge cautions
• Follow electrostatic precautions at all times when handling this unit.
• Always wear an ESD-preventive wrist or ankle strap when handling electronic components. Connect
one end of the strap to an ESD jack or an unpainted metal component on the system.
• Handle product cards/modules by the faceplates and edges only; avoid touching the printed circuit
board and connector pins.
• Place any removed component on an antistatic surface or in a static shielding bag.
• Avoid contact between the cards and clothing.
• Periodically check the resistance value of your antistatic strap. Recommended value is between 1 and
10 Mega-Ohms.
Preparing the site
Make the equipment site ready for installation and use.
NOTE: Only trained and qualified service personnel (as defined in IEC 60950, IEC62368 and AS/
NZS 3260) should install, replace, or service the equipment. Install the system in accordance with
the U.S. National Electric Code if you are in the United States.
IMPORTANT: Prepare the site for safe installation in accordance with local safety regulation rules,
installation environment, and product specification.
