Chapter 5: Configuring the Ripple-2 Node
Powering the Ripple-2 Node
The Ripple-2 node has dedicated AC lines, AC1 or AC2. RF ports P1, P2, P3 and P4 and dedicated
powering ports P5 and P6 may be routed to and from this bus using 30A fuses.
To avoid possible injury or damage to the equipment, it is recommended to remove AC input power from
the system before routing power to the Ripple-2 node. If the operator or technician needs to disconnect
power to maintain the node, be cautious of the fuse locations, discover which AC line is in use, and
remove all fuses to disconnect all sources.
Guidelines
The 30A fuses also serve as jumpers and are inserted into fuse sockets mounted on an AC board that is
part of the seizure board assembly. One AC board serves ports P1, P2, and P5; the other serves ports
P3, P4, and P6.
To remove or insert a fuse, use a standard automotive fuse puller.
To remove a fuse, align the fuse puller over the center of the fuse, place the puller around the fuse, apply
slight pressure, and pull the fuse out of the fuse socket.
To insert a fuse, grasp the fuse with the fuse puller and gently insert it into the socket.
Always inspect the fuse for possible cracks, broken connectors, and any corrosion or heat damage to
the area around where the fuses are installed. If any damage is observed, contact Harmonic technical
support immediately.
AC power passing between node ports is independent of the RF launch amplifier, and operates even
when the RF launch amplifier is removed.
