Forward and Return path segmentation
The Ripple-2 node supports a single Pebble-2 Remote PHY Device (RPD).
The Ripple-2 node Forward-path and Return-path functionality is shown in the following block diagram:

Forward path segmentation
The forward path configuration options are:
Two forward paths can be combined into a single path
Configured into two segmented forward paths
Configured for redundancy
Return path segmentation
The configuration options for the return path are:
Combined into a single US (Return Path) port or split between two US ports (segmented). The change
from single-return to dual-return or to quad-return can be made easily and quickly, allowing scaling of
the return bandwidth as traffic demand increases.
Can be split into two US signals for return-path redundancy.
Replaceable diplexer filters
Three pluggable diplexer filter models are supported by the Ripple-2 node and can be identified by their
label colors.
