Chapter 3 — Electrical Integration
12 ED40 Decode Board Integration Guide
General Information
This section provides general information on the electrical integration.
Electrical Characteristics
Power Supply Noise
To limit noise, Intermec recommends using a low-noise power supply or filtering
the power before the interface connector. Limiting noise produces a cleaner
image, and therefore better decodes.
Power Supply Requirements
Specification Value
Operating Voltage 3.0 V to 5.5 V
Input/Output Voltage Ranges
Inputs Value
Vcc 3 V to 5.5 V
Trigger, Power Enable, Detect In 1, CTS/Detect In 2,
Detect In 0
3 V to 5 V (5 V tolerant even if
Vcc is 3 V)
RXD/USB D+, TXD/USB D- 3.3 V
Outputs Value
All outputs 3.3 V (even if Vcc is 5 V)
Logic Level Thresholds
Inputs
Vih = 2.0 V min @ Vcc = 3.0 V
Vil = 0.8 V max @ Vcc = 3.0 V
Outputs Value
TXD, LED, Buzzer Voh = 2.4 V min @ Vcc = 3.0 V, Ioh = -0.5 mA
Vol = 0.4 V max @ Vcc = 3.0 V, Iol = 2 mA
RTS Voh = 2.4 V min @ Vcc = 3.0 V, Ioh = -8 mA
Vol = 0.4 V max @ Vcc = 3.0 V, Iol = 8 mA
Note: Operating current depends on the imager used. See the appendix for your
imager for all information on operating current.
