Appendix D — EA30 Imager
136 ED40 Decode Board Integration Guide
Imager Ribbon Cable Connecting to ED40
The ribbon cable connecting the EA30 imager to the ED40 decode board is a
special y-ribbon cable with 25 contacts on the imager side and the other side split
in to 21 contacts connecting to the decode board and 6 contacts connecting to
the host. This cable is necessary because the ED40 decode board does not supply
current to use the EA30’s lighting system. The 6-contacts connected to the host
provide the power for the imager’s illumination LEDs.
Intermec recommends using a shielded flex cable to contain emission from high
speed clock signals in this cable.
