The rear panel of the SRX1600 has two DC PSUs, which are hot-removable and hot-insertable eld-
replaceable units (FRUs).You can remove and replace the PSUs without powering o the SRX1600 or
disrupng the rewall funcons.
Ensure that you the following parts and tools are available:
An ESD grounding strap
An anstac bag or an anstac mat
A replacement DC PSU
A blank cover panel (in case you're not replacing the component)
Remove the DC PSU from an SRX1600
To remove a DC PSU from the appliance (see Figure 44 on page 77 ):
CAUTION: Avoid leaving the PSU slot empty for more than 30 minutes when the
device is operaonal. For proper airow, you must place the PSU in the chassis. Always
cover the empty PSU slot with a blank panel.
1. Aach an ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to the ESD point on the
chassis.
2. Place the anstac bag or the anstac mat on a at, stable surface.
3. Switch o the external circuit breakers for all the cables connected to the PSU. Make sure that the
voltage across the power source cable leads is 0 V. You must remove any possibility for the cables
to become acve during the removal process.
4. Remove the clear plasc cover protecng the terminal studs from the faceplate.
5. Remove the screws and washers from the terminals using a number 2 Phillips screwdriver.
6. Remove the cable terminals from the terminal studs. Carefully move the power cables out of the
way.
