NOTE: Connect each power supply to a dedicated AC power feed and a dedicated 2-pole
external circuit breaker. We recommend that you use a 10 A (250 VAC), or as permied by
the local code.
9. If the AC power source outlet has a power switch, set it to the on (|) posion.
Connect DC Power to the SRX1600
You connect DC power to the rewall by aaching power cables from the external DC power sources to
the terminal studs on the power supply faceplates.
CAUTION: You must not mix AC and DC power supplies in the same chassis.
WARNING: Before you connect power to the rewall, a licensed electrician must aach
appropriate cable termials to the grounding and power cables that you use. A cable with
an incorrectly aached terminal can damage the device (for example, by causing a short
circuit).
To meet safety and electromagnec interference (EMI) requirements and to ensure
proper operaon, you must properly ground the chassis before connecng power. See
"Connect Earth Ground to the SRX1600" on page 55 for instrucons.
WARNING: Before performing the following procedure, ensure that you remove the
power from the DC circuit. To ensure that all power is o, locate the circuit breaker on
the panel board that services the DC circuit. Switch the circuit breaker to the OFF
posion (0), and tape the switch handle of the circuit breaker in the OFF posion.
The power cables for the DC PSUs are rated 16AWG. To connect the DC source power cables to the
rewall for each PSU:
1. Switch o the dedicated facility circuit breakers. Ensure that the voltage across the DC power
source cable leads is 0 V. You must ensure that that the cable leads do not become acve during
installaon.
2. Install heat-shrink tubing insulaon around the power cables:
a. Slide the tubing over the poron of the cable where it is aached to the terminal barrel. Ensure
that the tubing covers the end of the wire and the barrel of the lug aached to it.
