NOTE: Connect each power supply to a dedicated AC power feed and a dedicated 2-pole
external circuit breaker. We recommend that you use a 10 A (250 VAC), or as permied by
the local code.
9. If the AC power source outlet has a power switch, set it to the on (|) posion.
Connect DC Power to the SRX1600
You connect DC power to the rewall by aaching power cables from the external DC power sources to
the terminal studs on the power supply faceplates.
CAUTION: You must not mix AC and DC power supplies in the same chassis.
WARNING: Before you connect power to the rewall, a licensed electrician must aach
appropriate cable termials to the grounding and power cables that you use. A cable with
an incorrectly aached terminal can damage the device (for example, by causing a short
circuit).
To meet safety and electromagnec interference (EMI) requirements and to ensure
proper operaon, you must properly ground the chassis before connecng power. See
"Connect Earth Ground to the SRX1600" on page 55 for instrucons.
WARNING: Before performing the following procedure, ensure that you remove the
power from the DC circuit. To ensure that all power is o, locate the circuit breaker on
the panel board that services the DC circuit. Switch the circuit breaker to the OFF
posion (0), and tape the switch handle of the circuit breaker in the OFF posion.
The power cables for the DC PSUs are rated 16AWG. To connect the DC source power cables to the
rewall for each PSU:
1. Switch o the dedicated facility circuit breakers. Ensure that the voltage across the DC power
source cable leads is 0 V. You must ensure that that the cable leads do not become acve during
installaon.
2. Install heat-shrink tubing insulaon around the power cables:
a. Slide the tubing over the poron of the cable where it is aached to the terminal barrel. Ensure
that the tubing covers the end of the wire and the barrel of the lug aached to it.
