6.7.3 Function of relief valve
When the
pressure in the oil passage reaches a set
pressure, the spring force is released and the relief
valve opens, allowing oil to flow.
This enables controlling the max pressure inside the oil
passage.
6.8 Oil filter
6.8.1 Outline of oil filter
The oil filter removes foreign material in the engine oil.
6.8.2 Structure of oil filter
The oil filter is made up of a bypass valve and element.
(1) Bypass valve
(2) Element
(a)
Filtered oil
(b) Unfiltered oil
6.8.3 Function of oil filter
[Normal State]
(1) Element
(a) Filtered oil
(b)
Unfiltered oil
The engine oil enters through the outer surface of the
element and is filtered through to the inside.
[When element is clogged]
(1) Element
(2) Bypass valve
(b)
Unfiltered oil
If the oil pressure flowing to the filter reaches the
bypass valve open pressure, the bypass valve opens.
Engine
oil
passes through the bypass valve and is
pumped without being filtered.
6.8.4 Specification of oil filter
Bypass valve open pressure
Approximately
98 kPa
1.0 kgf/cm
2
14 psi
6.9 Oil cooler
6.9.1 Outline of oil cooler
The oil cooler suppresses excessive oil temperature
while the engine is running through cooling.
6.9.2 Structure of oil cooler
The oil cooler has a structure partitioned internally
using cooling plates.
(1) Cooling plates
(A) Oil inlet
(B)
Oil outlet
(a) Coolant outlet
(b) Coolant inlet
