10 Maintenance work
Information!
This description applies analogously to all of the industrial robots listed in Chapter 1,
regardless of the variant or model shown in the illustrations.
10.1 General
Information!
Observe Chapter 5, “Safety”!
Before any maintenance work is started, any attached tools or additional equipment that
would hinder maintenance must be dismounted.
Explanation of the symbols used in connection with maintenance intervals in the “Lubrica-
tion” and “Other maintenance”.
means: maintenance interval
means: recommended maintenance
Lubrication is performed either at the specified maintenance intervals or every 5 years after
delivery -- whichever is reached first.
With maintenance intervals of 20,000 hours, the first maintenance (oil change) is performed
either after 20,000 operating hours or 5 years after delivery -- whichever is reached first.
If oil temperatures of more than 333 K (60 °C) are reached during operation, shorter mainte-
nance intervals must be observed; for this, consultation with KUKA Roboter GmbH is neces-
sary.
Notice!
It is imperative that lubrication is carried out every 5 years, as prescribed (oil
ageing).
Notice!
The maintenance intervals given in the tables are valid for the operating condi-
tions specified in Chapter 4 “Technical data”. KUKA must be consulted in the
event of deviations in working conditions or the use of special functions or ap-
plications.
Information!
Further information can be found in Section 7.2 “Information for planning”.
If the robot is fitted with a KUKA energy supply system (optional), additional maintenance
work is recommended.
