2 Introduction
The Touch Panel MV4 is a visualization unit that is provided with touch zone functions for medium to high
complexity automation systems. It meets all the requirements placed on a modern visualization unit.
The MV4 must be loaded with the necessary project data before it can be used. This is stored on the plug-in
memory cards (PC cards). The project data is created and loaded using a PC and the MV4-Configurator
MV4-CFG-1 (Galileo). This software is described in separate documentation.
Two slots (SYSTEM SLOT) are provided for taking one communication card each (→ Section 13). The
communication card manages the interface to the automation device. The communication cards are not
described in this documentation. Refer to the relevant device descriptions for more information.
The MV4-600 provides an Ethernet interface as well as a serial and parallel interface for networking and
other system functions. The required connector assignments and connection measures are described in this
document. The functions supported by the software are described in the online documentation of the Galileo.
This device description is a reference for the technical data, installation, terminals, commissioning, operation,
and maintenance of all MV4-600 versions. The designation and function of the connections and signals are
the same for all versions.
3 Device Versions / Type Designation
The MV4-600 series comes in different versions according to the dimensions and resolution of the flat screen
used (10.4” VGA or 15” XGA), resulting device dimensions, materials for the front plate and device fixings.

Units with the extention –xx1 are equipped with an acid-proof stainless steel front. The standard devices have
an aluminium front.
