considerthefollowingtooptimizescanningperformance:
•Range
–Anyscanningdevicedecodeswelloveraparticularworkingrange—minimumandmaximumdistancesfrom
thebarcode.Thisrangevariesaccordingtobarcodedensityandscanningdeviceoptics.
–Scanningwithinrangebringsquickandconstantdecodes;scanningtoocloseortoofarawaypreventsdecodes.
Movethescannercloserandfartherawaytondtherightworkingrangeforthebarcodesbeingscanned.
•Angle
–Scanangleisimportantforpromotingquickdecodes.Whenlaserbeamsreectdirectlybackintothescanner
fromthebarcode,thisspecularreectioncan“blind”thescanner.
–Toavoidthis,scanthebarcodesothatthebeamdoesnotbouncedirectlyback.Butdonotscanattoo
sharpanangle;thescannerneedstocollectscatteredreectionsfromthescantomakeasuccessfuldecode.
