DS2000 System Installation
NEC America DS1000/2000 Workbook 93
Punch down the trunk cables.
The Installation Cables have 6 8-pin jacks installed on one end and are
unterminated on the other. Each 8-pin jack connects 4 extensions or 4
trunks.
1. Using the NEC Installation Cable (P/N 80892), for each 66M1-50 block,
punch down the Installation Cable on the A block in standard color-
code order (see following page).
When using your own cable, for each trunk, run one-pair cross-connect
wire from the “A” block to the 8-pin jack. Remember that each 8-pin
jack connects 4 trunks to the trunk card so 4 pairs should be connected
to each 8-pin jack. Refer to the Connect the 8-pin modular
jacks to the PCBs section (page 35) for pinout information.
2. For each trunk, run one-pair cross-connect wire between the pins on the
A block and telcos RJ-21X block.
3. Make your telco connections to the RJ-21X block.
4. After you have punched down your cables, route them through the side
of the cabinet and secure them with the strain relief.
