•HSSClient‐ContinueTransmission(HSC‐CT):Iftheunitlosessynchronizationwiththe
HSSMaster,thelinkremainsactive.However,withoutsynchronizationpulses,itispos‐
siblethatthisunitwillcauseinterference.
•HSSClient‐DisableTransmission(HSC‐DT):Iftheunitlosessynchronization withthe
HSSMaster,thelinkisdroppeduntilthesynchronizationpulsesre sume.Thissetting
prev entstheunitfromcausinginterference.
TheremoteODUsthatarenotlocatedatthehubsite,arecalledIndependentUnits(INU).

TheRADWINSerialHubSiteSynchronization(SHSS)methodusesacableconnected
fromthemas terODUtoallcollocatedODUs;thiscablecarriespulsessenttoeach
ODU,whichsynchronizetheirtransmissionwitheachother.SHSSiscovere dinSerial
HubSiteSynchronization .
» EthernetHSS
TheEthernetHSS(HSSoE)methodrequiresLayer2Ethernetconnectivitybetween
collocatedODUs.Ithastworequirements:
• CollocatedODUsprovidingEthernetservicesonly,shouldbeconnectedtoanIDU‐H
insteadofregularPoEdevices.Othersimpleswitchesmayworkwithdegradedper‐
formance.Theyarenotre commendedandproblemsarisingfromtheirusewill not
beeligibleforanykindofsupport.
• CollocatedODUsprovidingE1/T1servicesshoulduseanIDU‐CorIDU‐Eandthenbe
connectedtoanIDU‐Hfunctioningasaswitch.OneoftheLANportsontheIDU‐Cor
IDU‐EisconnectedtoanyofthesixIDU‐HPoEportsorthetwoLANports.(Thisis
possiblebecausetheIDU‐CorIDU‐ELANcableonlyusesfourpinsfordata;the
powerpinsarenotusedsothereisnoriskofdamagetothem.)Inthisway,upto
eightsuchODUsmaybecollocated.

YoumayonlyuseoneIDU‐H.Thatis,theymaynotbecascaded.
Caution
IfyouareusinganIDU‐C0(GbE)itmustbeconnectedtotheIDU‐HLANport
only.ConnectingittothePoEportswilldamagetheunitandinanyevent,it
