Functions to be Set Up with the Printer Driver (Computer Side/Driver Side)
(1) Screening type
You can select half-tone processing or tonal expression of color images.
Result of the selected processing can be checked in "Print Image" on the left side of the screen.
[Grain-touch]: Various tones of photo images are reproduced by changing the number of dots in an area
according to original density. The printed-out photo images will have grain-touch
appearance. Fine images can be reproduced, however, the quality of gradation is not as
good as the Screen-covered.
[Screen-covered]: Various tones of photo images are reproduced by changing the size of dots according to
original density. The printed-out photo images will be covered with a dot screen. Though
the wide range of tone levels in original photo images can be kept in this style, their
fineness will be lowered.
When you select [Screen-covered], you can set the screen-covered parameter: [Screen
frequency] and [Screen angle]
[Screen frequency]: You can select the frequency of dots by the number of lines. You can select the frequency
of dots per inch (25.4 mm). The unit is measured by the number of lines. You can select
the value from 38 to 200 lines. The default value is 71 lines.
[Screen angle]: You can specify the direction of screen lines in angle. With this, you can make adjustments
against moire or other problems. You can select the value from 0 to 90 degrees. The
default value is 45 degrees.
(2) Photo type
Select the type of photo and set image finishing.
[Standard]: Clicking [Details] enables settings to be made for brightness and contrast.
[Close-up photo]: Use this setting for pictures of one or two individuals from the bust up. This setting
processes the image brighter so that the faces of people will be printed clearer.
[Group photo]: This setting is for group photos that are over-exposed. This process is effective for
restoring facial features that have become washed out by a flash.
When you select either [Close-up photo] or [Group photo], the “Photo adjustment” settings made for [Standard] are
returned to the default.
