Wrong cleaver.
The total of the
fiber end face
errors exceeds
2°.
Use cleaver FBC-005.
When using other cleavers
you must expect poorer
splice results and greater
inaccuracy in the splice
loss display.
Cleaver dirty or
damaged.
Examine the cleaver dia-
mond for damage and/or
clean the cleaver as de-
scribed in the Instructions.
Fiber end faces
dirty.
Restrip the fibers and re-
cleave.
Guide of left-
hand slide dirty
or damaged.
Switch off the unit
and then switch it
back on again. Both
slides move out-
wards at first and
then move inwards.
When the left slide
reaches its outer-
most position,
switch off the splicer
with the mains
switch (!).
Push the slide in-
wards by hand
against the spring
pressure and check
for any irregularities.
The slide must
move smoothly
without jerking.
The guides can be dam-
aged by improper treat-
ment, e.g. through jolt or
impact to the slide, or may
become difficult to move
as a result of dirt. Repair is
only possible at the service
center.
