Activating nurse call communication (option) (Continued)
Note: A 9V battery, located in the head end of the product, powers the nurse call signal. If the product is unplugged
from a wall outlet while the nurse call pendant port switch is set to the on position (Figure 20 on page 31), the charge of
the 9V battery will begin to drain.
If the 9V nurse call battery needs to be replaced, a message will appear on the footboard display. See Replacing the
nurse call backup battery (option) on page 31.

To prevent a low battery condition when the bed is not plugged in, position the cord out switch at the head end of the
bed to the off position. If the switch is not positioned as shown below (A) (Figure 21 on page 32) and the bed power cord
and pendant cord are unplugged, the life of the backup battery will be significantly reduced.
