12. Place an opcn end wrench (A. Figure 37) on
the backside of the ca mshaft chain tcnsioncr
adjuster.
1 3. Remove the bolt (B. Figure 37) securing the
camshaft chain tcnsioner adjuster to the ca mshaft
chain Icnsioner. Rem
ove the tensioner adjuster
assembly.
14 . Straighten the locking lab on th e lockwashcr
and loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt (Figure 38).
[5. Use a 17 mm wrench on th e alternator rolOr
bolt. Rotate the engine clockwise, as viewed from
th e left-hand s id e, until th e other ca mshaft sprocket
bo lt is exposed.
16 . Slraig ht en the locking tab on the lockwashcr
and loosen the ca mshaft sprocket boll ( Figure 39 ).
Rem ove this boh.
17. Again rotate the eng in e clockwise. as viewed
from the left-hand side. until the remaining
camshafl sproc ket bolt is exposed. Rem ove this
bo
lt and the lockwasher.
18 . Di senga ge the camshaft dri ve chain ( Figure
40 ) from the camshaft sprocket.
19 . Pull the camshaft toward the left-ha nd si de and
remove the camshaft sprocket from the cyl inder
head.
20. Tie a piece of wi re to the drive chain and
secure the other end to the exterior
of the engine.

1. Remove the camshaft from the cylinder head.
Don't lose the locating pin (
Figure 41 ) from the
end of the camshaft.
22. Remove the camshaft C-ring f
ro m the groove
in the cylinder head.
CAUTION
If the crankshaft must be rotated when
the camshaft is removed, pull up on the
