5 Select and install reader
5.1 Select reader
Dierent both reader types can be integrated into the
locking system. The place of use determines whether a
reader with external or internal control unit is installed.
n A reader with internal control unit is suitable for use
indoors.
n It is advisable to install a reader with external control unit
in outdoor areas, where there is an increased risk of
break-in and vandalism. The control unit is mounted in
the secure internal area.
5.2 Install reader

Material damage due to incorrect installation
of the reader!
Incorrect installation of the reader can result
in damage or destruction of the reader and
the connected electronics.
– Have the reader installed by a qualified
electrician in energy and building tech-
nology.
– Carry out the installation in accordance
with these instructions.
– Only mount the switching mechanism in
deenergised state.
