Eachregisteraccumulatesinterfacecommanderrorsandisclearedwhenread.TheuseoftheERRregisterisrecommended,the
OPCandESRregistersareincludedforlegacypurposes.
Itisnotrecommendedtoincludeanerrorregisterquerycommandwithanyothercommandsinasetofcommands;anysyntaxerror
inthoseothercommandsmaycausetheerrorregisterquerycommandtonotbeactioned.
Thesecommandsshouldbeusedfollowingcommandsduringtestingofyoursoftware;theymayberemovedlaterifdesired.Forthe
LANinterfaceitishighlyunlikelythatacommandwillbecorrupted,sotheregularuseofthistypeoferrorcheckingisnotnecessary;
howeverfortheUSBandRS232interfacesitispossibleforcommandstobecomecorruptedduringtransmissiontotheXT2640so
theuseofthe*ERR?commandisrecommendedinhighinterferenceenvironments.
TheERRregisterisautomaticallyclearedwhenaninterfaceisdisconnectedorwhenaLANinterfacesocketisclosed.
Non‐zerocontentsoftheERRregistercausethescreenoftheXT2640toindicateanerrormessageintheErrorInfoArea.This
messageremainsuntiltheERRregisteriscleared.
