8.5 TYPICALTRIPLEVPA APPLICATIONS

TherearealsoothertripleVPAconfigurationswhicharenotshownhere.Asexample–
IfafacilityhasabackuporPVsourceofpower,aninternalpowerdistribution,andalsoaccesstoanetworksupplythen
threeVPAscanbeused,onemeasuringeachofthese.InthiscaseyoushouldnotethattheXT2640canalsoseparately
integratetheboughtandsoldpowerforthenetworkpowersource.
EachVPAhasthesamecapabilitiesandareindependentlyconfiguredasforsingleVPAapplications(exceptonlyasingle
oscilloscopeinoneVPAisallowed).
EachVPAcanbeconfiguredasNx1ø,2ø3w,3ø3w(2ch),3ø3w(3ch)or3ø4wlimitedbythetotalnumberofchannels
installed.
Efficiencyandpowerlosscanbemeasured,overallandforeachintermediatestage.
Fortheexampleshownabove,thetotalchargeanddischargeAHrforthebatterycanbemeasured.
TheVPAsmaybeconfiguredaseither–
Totallyindependentandhavingtotallydifferentfrequencycontentsignalstoeachother.
Or,havetotallydifferentfrequencycontentsignalsbutmakemeasurementsovertimeswhicharesynchronized
toeachother.
Or,havethesamefrequencycontentsignalsandmakemeasurementsoverexactlythesameperiodsoftime(the
oscilloscopecapturesthesignalsinbothVPAsinthiscase).
8.6 MECHANICAL(MOTOR/GENERATOR)APPLICATIONS
IfaMTtypechannelisinstalledandconfiguredintheCH4locationthenitcanbeusedformechanicalmeasurementsinadditionto
thepreviouslydescribedelectricalmeasurementsperformedinVPA1toVPA3.Themeasurementofmechanicaldatacanbemade
independentlyofelectricalmeasurements,orsynchronizedtoaVPA,orallVPAsandthemotor/generatormeasurementsmayallbe
synchronizedtogether.
