8.0 DECODE OPTIONS

8.1 PC Configuration for 4K HEVC/H.265 Decode

Due to the advanced processing needed to support HEVC/H.265 decoding at 4K resolutions, a PC must meet

the following requirements:

▪ Video Card Supports HEVC_VLD_Main or higher

▪ VLC media player

version 3.0.4 or higher

▪ Quad Core or better CPU

▪ 12GB RAM recommended (8GB minimum)

8.1.1 Video Card

Verify your PC or laptop video card has support for HEVC_VLD_Main or higher. This can be verified by

following VLC guidelines for decoding at https://wiki.videolan.org/GPU_decoding

VLC is an open source media player from the VideoLAN organization that can be downloaded for free online.
