63.18 LINEAR FRIC @ 20% Linear friction is an additional friction loss component as a function of
speed. To account for varying loss at different speeds, there are 5
different offsets that can be entered; each one accounting for the
offset needed at the percentage of 20.02 MAXIMUM SPEED. For
proper adjustment of these parameters, use the following procedure.
Procedure 1
1. Place a full roll of product in the section.
2. Set 63.09 TENSION CTL ENABLE to “NOT SEL”.
3. Ensure 03.13 ROLL DIAMETER is correct; if not, use the diameter
reset function to set the diameter.
4. Change to LOC mode on the keypad.
5. Set the keypad REF to 5% of 11.05 EXT REF1 MAXIMUM.
6. Start the drive via the keypad.
7. Increase the speed to 20% of 11.05 EXT REF1 MAXIMUM.
8. Multiply 01.05 TORQUE by 99.11 CALC MOTOR TORQUE.
9. Subtract 63.17 STATIC FRICTION from the result above (step 8.)
and enter this result into 63.18 LINEAR FRICTION@20%.
10. Increase the speed to 40% of 11.05 EXT REF1 MAXIMUM.
11. Multiply 01.05 TORQUE by 99.11 CALC MOTOR TORQUE.
12. Subtract 63.17 STATIC FRICTION from the result above (step 11.)
and enter this result into 63.19 LINEAR FRICTION@40%.
13. Increase the speed to 60% of 11.05 EXT REF1 MAXIMUM.
14. Multiply 01.05 TORQUE by 99.11 CALC MOTOR TORQUE.
15. Subtract 63.17 STATIC FRICTION from the product of the result
above (step 14.) and enter this result into 63.20 LINEAR
FRICTION@60%.
16. Increase the speed to 80% of 11.05 EXT REF1 MAXIMUM.
17. Multiply 01.05 TORQUE by 99.11 CALC MOTOR TORQUE.
18. Subtract 63.17 STATIC FRICTION from the result above (step 17.)
and enter this result into 63.21 LINEAR FRICTION@80%.
19. Increase the speed to 100% of 11.05 EXT REF1 MAXIMUM.
20. Multiply 01.05 TORQUE by 99.11 CALC MOTOR TORQUE.
21. Subtract 63.17 STATIC FRICTION from the result above (step 20.)
and enter this result into 63.22 LINEAR FRICTION@MAX.
Note: In Unwind sections the friction offset should be entered as a
negative value. Since the web is pulled from the section, the friction
actually increases the amount of tension on the web. Therefore, less
tension torque is required.
Note: The linear friction should be adjusted to maintain +
20% tension
regulator output (03.09 TENSION REG OUTPT) as the roll builds.
