If the type of cable you are measuring is not listed, you need to select Cust (Custom Cable).
Cable Atten Use this key to specify the attenuation per unit distance of the cable you are
measuring. You only need to specify this parameter if the cable you are testing is not
shown in the list of common cable types.
If the type of cable you are measuring is not listed, you need to select
Cust (Custom Cable),
and then specify its attenuation in dB per 100 m (or in dB per 100 ft.) You will also need to
specify the speed at which signals travel along this cable [Vel Factor], measured as a
percentage of the speed of light in a vacuum.
Most cable manufactures provide a table showing attenuation versus frequency for each
type of cable. Remember that attenuation varies with frequency, so select an attenuation
value that corresponds as closely as possible to the center of the frequency range you are
using.
Vel Facto r Use this key to specify the relative propagation velocity of the cable you are
measuring. You only need to specify this parameter if the cable you are testing is not
shown in the list of common cable types.
