How the Directory Search Works
The phone's directory search works by applying a progressive match as you dial additional keys.
That matching is applied simultaneously to all parts of the names.
Starting by pressing 4 (the GHI key), matches all names where part of the name begins with
a G, H or I.
- Then pressing 3 (the DEF key) reduces the matches shown to those where part of the
name begins with Gd, Ge, Gf, Hd, He and so on.
As you dial, the possible matches shown on the display reduce.
At any time, you can scroll the list of matches and select one of the matches or press another
dialpad key to improve the matching further.
For example, to search for "Henry Jones", you can dial HENRY by pressing 43679.
