Replacing these apertures is easy and fast; no realignment is required.

The wheel aperture and the manually-operated knife-edge aperture which can be
installed at place A and B (in fig. 5.2) are interchangeable with each other. However, the
apertures which can be installed in place C (in fig. 5.2) are not interchangeable with the
apertures which can be installed at place A and B (in fig. 5.2).

A
At this place, the following apertures can be installed:
manually-operated knife-edge aperture with either transparent or metal
knife edges
motorized knife-edge aperture with transparent knife edges
rotatable wheel aperture
The aperture installed at this place is used for narrowing down the sam-
ple area to be measured in transmittance as well as in reflectance.
Note: By default, the manually-operated knife-edge aperture with trans-
parent knife edges is installed at this place.
B
By default, no aperture is installed at this place. If required, however, one
of the following apertures can be installed at this place:
manually-operated knife-edge aperture with either transparent or metal
knife edges
rotatable wheel aperture
The aperture installed at this place reduces the diffraction effect of the IR
beam in the reflectance mode only.
C
At this place, the following apertures can be installed:
rotatable wheel aperture
manually-operated knife-edge aperture with either transparent or metal
knife edges
The aperture installed at this place reduces the diffraction effect of the IR
beam in the transmittance mode only.
