5.3 Optional microscope stages and sample holders
5.3.1 Overview
Motorized stage
The motorized stage can have the following optional fea-
tures:
max. travel range in x- and y-direction: 100 mm x 80 mm
a third motor allowing a computer-controlled and joystick-
controlled stage movement in z-direction
Heating / freezing stage THMS 600 (Linkam)
This stage can both increase and reduce the current tem-
perature of the sample.
Adjustable temperature range: -196°C (-320.8°F) to 600°C
(1112°F)
The heating/freezing stage is attached to the microscope by
means of an adapter unit.
The stage can be used conjunction with the 15x objective in
transmission and reflection as well as with the 36x objective
in reflection.
See section 5.3.2. For more detailed information, refer
to the documentation accompanying the stage THM
S 600 (Linkam).
Heatable sample holder
This sample holder can be heated samples up to 180°C
(356°F). It can be used for IR spectroscopic measurements
in transmission as well as in reflection.
See section 5.3.3. For more detailed information, refer
to the documentation accompanying the heatable sam-
ple holder.
Miniature sample holder
The miniature sample holder allows for optimal positioning
of sample of all forms. For example:
It holds spherical and other irregularly shaped samples
It permits tilting the sample or leveling an oblique-angled
sample.
It holds and stretches the sample (e.g. fibers, polymer films
etc.).
