In transmission mode
In reflection mode
7.2.2 No video image is displayed on the LCD monitor and/or in OPUS
Possible cause Solution
Sample has a (very) low light transmitting
capacity.
Use a thinner sample or flatten the sample
using a compression cell.
Note: Compression cells are available as
optional component. See section 5.6.
Beam path is blocked by the sample stage or a
sample holder, for example.
Check the beam path for objects blocking the
beam path and remove them.
Condenser is not aligned properly.
Check the condenser setting and correct it, if
required.

Iris aperture for setting the Koehler illumination
in transmission mode is closed.
Open the iris aperture for setting the Koehler
illumination in transmission mode (B in
fig. 3.10).

Possible cause Solution
Sample is not in focus. Focus on the sample.
Sample does not reflect light at all or has a
very poor light reflecting capacity.
In search of a sample area with better reflec-
tive characteristics, move the microscope
stage in x- and/or y-direction.
If you do not succeed in finding a reflective
sample area, the sample is not suited sample
viewing in the reflection mode.
Iris aperture for setting the Koehler illumination
in reflection mode is closed.
Open the iris aperture for setting the Koehler
illumination in reflection mode (E in fig. 3.10).

Possible cause Solution
Visible light is routed to the binocular.
Pull out the light path selector lever completely.
