7.2.7 Problems regarding mapping measurements
Mapping measurements without ATR objective
Mapping measurements with ATR objective
Possible cause Solution
After a PC reboot, the motorized stage has not
been reset.
Reset the motorized stage.
☞ See section 4.5.
Note: The motorized stage needs to be reset
after each PC reboot!
In OPUS, an experiment file is loaded of which
the parameter settings are not defined for map-
ping measurements (i.e. the selected Imaging
Device option is not for mapping measure-
ments).
In OPUS, load an experiment file of which the
parameter settings are defined for a mapping
measurement.

Possible cause Solution
After a PC reboot, the motorized stage has not
been reset.
Reset the motorized stage.
☞ See section 4.5.
Note: The motorized stage needs to be reset
after each PC reboot!
At the mapping measurement start, the dis-
tance between sample and crystal tip (with the
ATR crystal being in the measuring mode posi-
tion) was more than 2 mm.
Abort the measurement. Move the stage
upwards until the distance between sample
and crystal tip is
≤ 2 mm. Restart the mapping
measurement.
Hardware Setup in OPUS: The wrong stage
has been selected in the setup of the Mapping
Device and Imaging device.
OPUS: Both in the mapping device setup and
in the imaging device setup, select the stage
option LStepATRStage (and not LStepStage!).

In OPUS, an experiment file is loaded of which
the selected imaging device is not defined for
mapping measurements with ATR objective.
OPUS: Select an imaging device which is
defined for mapping measurements with ATR
objective.
Hardware Setup in OPUS: The option Autofo-
cus has not been selected in the setup of the
Imaging device.
Note: Autofocus is an electronic option.
Select an imaging device for which this elec-
tronic option is selected.
If such an imaging device does not yet exist,
set it up.
