7.2.5 Problems regarding the motorized microscope stage
Problem Possible cause Solution
The motorized stage control
fails to operate correctly (i.e.
the motorized stage does not
position exactly.)
After a PC reboot, the motor-
ized stage has not be reset.
Reset the motorized stage.

Note: The motorized stage
needs to be reset after each
PC reboot!
The motorized stage control
fails to operate completely (i.e.
the motorized stage cannot be
controlled at all).
The motorized stage is not
connected at all or not con-
nected properly (e.g. plug fits
loosely in connector socket).
Check the cables for correct
connection. Connect them
correctly.

The motorized stage moves in
an unanticipated manner.
The cable for controlling the
stage movement in x-direc-
tion and the cable for control-
ling the stage movement in y-
direction have been mixed up.
Connect these cables to the
corresponding sockets.

Joystick control fails.
Joystick is not connected at all
or not connected properly to
the PC.
In OPUS, the function
enabling a joystick-controlled
is deactivated.
Check the cable for correct
connection. Connect it cor-
rectly.

Activate this function in OPUS
by selecting in the Measure-
ment menu the Motorized
Stage Control function and
activating the Activate joystick
checkbox.
