Troubleshooting 7
Using the ATR objective, sam-
ple viewing not possible nei-
ther through the binocular nor
by means of the video image
displayed in OPUS and on the
LCD monitor of the micro-
scope.
ATR crystal is in the measur-
ing mode position (i.e. lower
position).
Bring the ATR crystal in the
viewing mode position (i.e.
upper position).
See section 4.12.4.
Due to lack of space, you do
not succeed in bringing the
ATR crystal in the viewing
mode position (i.e. upper
position) because an
another objective attached at
the revolving nosepiece pre-
vents you from doing so.
In case of the 36x objective
and the GIR objective:
Remove them from the
revolving nosepiece.
In case of the 15x objective:
Attach the ATR objective
opposite to the 15x objective
at the revolving nosepiece.
Before attaching the ATR
objective, remove the plas-
tic sleeve of the 15x objec-
tive.
See section 4.12.3.
The IR spectroscopic mea-
surement does not yield a
sample spectrum.
ATR crystal is damaged.
Check the ATR crystal for
damages.
See section 6.4.2.
If the check reveals that the
ATR crystal is damaged,
replace the crystal assembly.
For the order number of a
replacement crystal, see
appendix C. For informa-
tion about the replace-
ment procedure, see
section 6.4.3.
After having replaced the crys-
tal assembly, check the ATR
crystal position for centrality
and correct it, if required.
See section 6.4.4 and
section 6.4.5.
ATR crystal is in the viewing
mode position (i.e. upper posi-
tion.)
Bring the ATR crystal in the
measuring mode position (i.e.
lower position.)
See section 4.12.4
The contact pressure is too
low with regard to the
degree of hardness of the
sample.
At the ATR objective, set a
contact pressure level which
is adequate to the degree of
hardness of the sample.
See section 4.12.5.
ATR crystal is dirty.
Clean the ATR crystal.
See section 4.12.2.
