Filter Setting Recommendations
Non-Critical Sample Rate
If the sample rate is not critical, as in static weighing, set Filtering: to:
Filtering: Off
(NO Filtering)
Filtering: Minimal
(Filter Value: 6, Filter Break: 12, Sample Rate: 2/Sec) or
Filtering: Moderate
(Filter Value: 6, Filter Break: 8, Sample Rate: 1/Sec).
Critical Sample Rate
With a critical sample rate, as in a filling operation, use (Filtering: Custom).
1. Sample Rate: (1 to 200 samples/second) determination:
Set the sample rate as close as possible to produce a display graduation change for
every graduation of material added to the scale.
Material Flow Rate (lbs/second)
= Sample Rate:
Interval
EXAMPLE:
100lbs/sec
= 10s/s = Sample Rate:
10lbs
2. Filter Value: (0 to 255) determination: Set to desired results.
3. Filter Break: (1 to 64 graduations) determination:
Turn the filtering off by setting Filtering: Off. Operate the system as it will be
normally used and, by observation, determine the number of graduations of instability
that needs to be filtered out. Set the Filter Break: range to that value.
Weight Change
= Filter Break:
Interval
EXAMPLE: 20,000 x 10lb capacity scale with 800lb variation in the weight display.
800
= Filter Break: 80
10
4. If stability is unacceptable with any setting of Filter Value:, reduce the
Sample Rate: and/or increase the Filter Break: range setting for increased
filtering.
