Section 3.2 Product Identification and Traceability
The illuminator will recognize and is compatible with the following
barcode formats:
1. Codabar (including Monarch 11 and UKBTS)
• 10 numeric characters : 0 through 9
• 6 control characters : minus (-), dollar sign ($), period (.),
plus (+), colon (:), forward slash (/)
• 8 start / stop characters : a, b, c, d, t, n, *, e
(upper and lower case allowed)
2. Code 128 (including ISBT 128 and Eurocode)
• All 128 ASCII characters
Refer to Chapter 7 of this manual for details.
Each blood product is identified and traced by the combination of
the donation number and blood product code. This identification is
entered into the illuminator by scanning barcodes that are applied
to the final storage container by your facility.
Upon completion of the illumination step, a record of each
processed blood product is stored in the illuminator. Up to 3200
records may be stored, printed and/or transmitted to a computer.
Upon completion of treatment number 3201, the number 1
treatment record is replaced.
