11.9.5 AES67 Guidelines
When connecting devices to route AES67 audio streams with your E-DANTE 64
card, the following general principles should be noted:
AES67 uses IEEE1588-2008 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) to ensure
synchronization between devices. All networked devices, including your
network switch must support this standard.
You need to disable any Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) switches, as
these will disrupt the synchronization of audio streams.
All networked devices need to support multicast routing. The Dante
system defaults to multicast when routing AES67 streams.
Multicast routing uses the Class D range of IP addresses (224.x.x.x
239.x.x.x). For AES67 streams, chose an IP range that does not conflict
with other network traffic. Consult your network administrator if
necessary.
It is recommended that Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)
snooping is enabled on your network switch. This will avoid the
possibility of flooding your network.
