voltages required for drop charging (295V nominal), ink stream
modulation (210V nominal) and drop deflection (+/--4kV nominal or
+/--3.65kV Pinpoint). The drop deflection voltage has a very high
source impedance, eliminating any hazard if touched.
Softwaresupportis supplied viaaPCMCIAcard connector,providing
the means of loading software, upgrading software and downloading
data such as error logs, printer configuration information, logos and
message back--ups. In addition, a PC104 Bus expansion connector
provides direct access to the processor functions for specialised
applications.
Theprinter isentirelysoftware--controlled. Anumberoffunctionscan
beadjusted,orconfigured,tosuittheparticularusetowhichtheprinter
isput. Therearealsoanumberofautomaticfunctions,suchasviscosity
control, which maintain optimum performance. In operation, the
printercanbeinanumberofdifferentstates whicharebasicallystable,
such as ”printer standby” and ”ready to print”. To change from one
stable state to another, the printer automatically ”sequences” through
a number of steps such as running/stoppingpumps,opening/closing
valves, etc. Sequencing is indicated by a flashing green indication on
the Jet On/Off key.
