Chapter 5
MAINTENANCE
5.1 PARTS SUBJECT TO WEAR
The parts subject to wear are:
the spreading vanes
the inner agitator
the drop guide tube.
The duration of these parts depends greatly on the type
of material that is spread; as such, we recommend visually
checking the state of wear at the beginning of each work
day. If these parts show signs of extreme wear (holes,
deformations), then they must be replaced immediately. In
addition to a decline in machine performance, there is the
danger of machine parts being projected.
ALL PARTS MUST BE REPLACED ONLY WITH
ORIGINAL SPARE PARTS.
5.2 CLEANING
DANGER!
All operations must be done exclusively with the
tractor off, P.T.O. disengaged, parked with
parking brake and with the key removed.
We recommend cleaning the fertiliser spreader right after
using it.
Before cleaning and washing, empty the loading hopper
completely. DO NOT dump the collected material but dis-
pose of it following the instructions provided by the manu-
facturer.
To wash the machine, open the product outlet shutters.
The products used for cleaning must be disposed
of according to the laws in force.
Install the guards removed for cleaning and main-
tenance; replace them with new ones if they are
damaged.
Clean the electrical components only with a dry
cloth.
USING PRESSURISED CLEANING SYSTEMS
(Air/Water)
Always keep in mind the rules that regulate use
of these systems.
Do not pressure clean electrical components.
Do not pressure clean chromium-plated compo-
nents.
Do not place the nozzle in contact with the parts
of the equipment, especially the bearings. Keep
it at a min. distance of 30 cm from the surface to
be cleaned.
Thoroughly lubricate the equipment, especially after
cleaning it with pressurised systems.
Once cleaning is complete, dry the machine thoroughly.
We recommend treating all the unpainted parts with an
environmentally friendly anticorrosive product.
5.3 EMPTYING THE HOPPER
DANGER!
All operations must be done exclusively with the
tractor off, P.T.O. disengaged, parked with
parking brake and with the key removed.
Before emptying the hopper (refer also to the control sys-
tem instructions manual), you must prepare the machine
as follows.
1. Remove the spreading discs as shown in § 4.7.3 on
page 30.
2. Once the spreading discs have been removed, repo-
sition the agitator drive shaft in its housing and tighten
the locking handwheel (see fig. 4.24).
3. Turn the drop point positioning lever to the 0 position.
4. Once the fertiliser spreader has been prepared for
emptying, get on the tractor and proceed as in-
structed in the control system instructions manual.
