Chapter 2: System hardware overview
Number Component Description
- Lid
Connected physically to the base by a hinge, and electrically
with RF jumper cables, AC power cable and DC power and
control cables.
Possible components:
• Lid motherboard
• Pebble-2 module
• Jetty-1 remote switch
• Optical fiber ports
• Fiber management tray
• One or two Power Supplies or one Power Supply +
Optional Buoy Power Backup module
1 RF Port 1 Base contains six 5/8-24 RF ports, P1, P2, P3, P4.
2 Powering Port 5 The node ships with ports 5 and 6 blocked by a plugs which
can be removed to allow the insertion of a dedicated power
stinger. The power adapter cable kit screws into the node
insert.
3 Powering Port 5 AC
board
The AC board receives the AC power feed from the dedicated
powering port, via the power adapter kit. There is an
equivalent AC board at port 6.
4 AC Cable For connecting AC power between the base and lid.
5 HD-AFI connectors
and cables
HD-AFI cables connect Pebble-2 modules to the Ripple-2 RF
tray.
6 Pebble-2 module
Available Pebble-2 RPD/RMP models:
• Pebble-2 RPD, with 2xSFPs, supporting DS/US
configurations:

• Pebble-2 RMP, with 2xSFPs, supporting DS/US

7 SFP Optical
transceiver ports
Two optical ports can be populated with optical transceivers in
SFP+ compliant packages for connection to fiber cables.
8 Power supply One or two power supplies, delivered with power cables
supplied by Harmonic.
9 Optical fiber port Two optical fiber ports are available.
