Before Returning for Repair
If abnormal operation occurs, check the following items.

The display does not ap-
pear when you turn the
power on.
• Is the power cord disconnected?
• Are connections made correctly?
Verify that the power cord is con-
nected properly.

Keys do not work. • Is any key being held down?
• Is Key-Lock enabled (M.LOCK or F.LOCK dis-
played)?
• Is remote control communication enabled (RMT dis-
played)?
• Is the EXT I/O KEY_LOCK signal asserted (Low
level)?
Verify key operation.
Cancel Key-Lock (p. 60)
Switch to local control (p. 104)
De-assert the KEY_LOCK
signal
(High level).
Measured values are
unstable.
• Is the measurement object a power transformer or
other large inductance?
• Are the cables and measurement object adequately
shielded?

Measured values are
shifted.
• Is zero-adjust enabled?
• Are the CUR and POT terminals connected before
contacting the measurement object?
• Is the measured object calibrated correctly?

• There may be a large thermal emf.

If the cause is unknown • Try performing a system reset (p. 67). All settings are returned to their factory defaults.)
11.2 Cleaning
• To clean the instrument, wipe it gently with a soft cloth moistened with water or mild deter-
gent. Never use solvents such as benzene, alcohol, acetone, ether, ketones, thinners or
gasoline, as they can deform and discolor the case.
• Wipe the LCD gently with a soft, dry cloth.
