Performance Tests
Performance Test Instructions
HP-IB Interface Test (Optional)
You will need a controller/computer with HP-IB capabilities for
this test.
1 Connect the HP 8163A Lightwave Multimeter or the HP 8164A
Lightwave Measurement System to the controller via the HP-IB.
2 Switch on the instrument and wait until it has booted.
3 Send the *IDN? query to the instrument from the controller.
4 Check that the lowest softkey is called [Local]. This indicates
that the instrument received the query.
5 The reply from the instrument should be a string of the form,
HEWLETT-PACKARD, <Model Number>,
<Serial Number>, <Firmware Revision Number>
6 Press [Local] to return the instrument to local control.
