How to Set the Output Power of a CW Signal
How to Set Output Power
To set the output power to 555.000 µW:
Attenuator If your tunable laser has an in-built optical attenuator, move to
[POWER MODE], press ENTER, move to <AUTOMATIC>, and press ENTER.
1 Move to the power parameter, [P], and press [Pwr unit].
2 Move to <W> and press ENTER.
3 Press ENTER to start editing the output power value.
4 Enter 555.000, press [Unit+] or [Unit], as required, to select
µW as the power units, and press ENTER.
How to Set the Optical Output
To set the Optical Output of a Tunable Laser module with two
optical outputs:
1 Press [Details].
2 Move to [OPTICAL OUTPUT] and press ENTER.
3 Use the Modify Knob to move to one of the following:
<HIGH POWER (2)>, a high power optical output for use in
tesing Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs), you see a
screen similar to Figure 5-1,
<LOW SSE (1)>, a lower power optical output with low
Source Spontaneous Emission (SSE) for use in passive
component test, you see a screen similar to Figure 5-2,
<BOTH (MASTER:2)>, where both optical outputs can be
enabled but only the output of the high power optical output
can be regulated, and
<BOTH (MASTER:1)>, where both optical outputs can be
enabled butonly the output of the low SSE optical output can
be regulated.
