Maintenance
Hydraulic System
Abnormal noises.
Do not use the machine if one or more of these faults are found. You must make sure that the hydraulic service
is repaired immediately.
Oil
Check (Level)
1. Make the machine safe with the boom lowered.
Refer to: Maintenance Position (Excavator End Lowered) (Page 116).
2. Get access to the hydraulic oil level indicator and hydraulic oil filler cap.
Refer to: Service Points (Page 117).
3. Check the hydraulic oil level indicator. The hydraulic oil level must be visible in the level indicator.
4. Top up oil level if necessary:
4.1. Remove the hydraulic oil filler cap.
4.2. Add hydraulic oil.
Refer to: Fluids, Lubricants and Capacities (Page 156).
4.3. Install the filler cap.
Cylinders / Rams
Check (Condition)
Extend each ram fully, one at a time and visually examine for score marks, dents, leaks or similar defects.
Make the machine safe before inspecting each ram.
If a ram piston appears defective, contact your service engineer or JCB dealer.
