Service Disconnect
General
To allow the machine ECU (Electronic Control Unit) to shutdown correctly, you must wait 10s before you
disconnect the battery. The 10s period starts when you turn the ignition off. If a radio is fitted, you may loose
any settings.
Decommissioning of the hazardous voltage circuit (if required) must be carried out by an approved or competent
engineer. Contact your local JCB dealer.
This below procedure is applicable for the partial isolation of battery for working on the PDU (Power Distribution
Unit), AC (Alternating Current)/DC (Direct Current) converter, inverter or motor. For full isolation of the battery
system or junction box, contact your local JCB dealer.
Disconnect the Machine Electrics
1. Turn the ignition key to the off position.
2. Wait for the machine ECU to shutdown correctly.
Duration: 10s
3. Get access to the service disconnect.
Refer to: Service Points (Page 117).
4. Turn the service disconnect in a counter-clockwise direction. Refer to Figure 14.
5. Make sure that the charging lead is disconnected.
6. Check that electrical supply is isolated by performing a voltage safety check at the inverter positive and
negative terminals.
7. Lock in position using a suitable padlock.
