Synchronizationmodes
ThepurposeofthesynchronizationmodesaretosetuptheEK80tooperatealone,oras
a"master"or"slave"inasynchronizedsystem.
Whenevermorethanonehydroacousticsystemisinstalledonavessel,interferencemay
occur.Toavoidinterference,youhavetheseoptions:
•Thesystemsareallconnectedtoacommonsynchronizationsystem.
•Oneoftheacousticsystemsissetupas"master",andcontrolsthetransmissionson
theothersystems.
TheEK80offersfunctionalityforremotetransmitsynchronization.Itcanbesetupto
operateineitherMasterorSlavemode.
Thefollowingsynchronizationmodesareavailable:
•Stand-alone
Synchronizationisturnedoff.ThissynchronizationmodeisusediftheEK80is
workingbyitselfandwithnosynchronizationrequired.Thisisthedefaultsetting.
TheEK80operatesusingitsinternalpingintervalparameters,independentofany
triggersignalsarrivingatthesynchronizationport.
TheSynchronizationDelaysettingisnotapplicablewhensynchronizationisswitched
off.
•Master
MastermodeisusediftheEK80isgoingtoactasthecontrollingunitina
synchronizedsystem.Theperipheralhydroacousticsystem(s)areonlypermitted
totransmitwhenenabledbytheEK80.WhenMastermodeisselected,theEK80
willrunusingitsinternalpingintervalparametersandsendtriggersignalstothe
peripheralsystem(s).
ThismodeisunavailableifyousetSynchronizationPorttoTransceiverAuxiliaryPort.
•Slave
SlavemodeisusediftheEK80isgoingtotransmitonlywhenpermittedbya
peripheralsystem.WhenSlavemodeisselected,theEK80doesnottransmit("ping")
unlessanexternaltriggerappearsonthechosensynchronizationport.Theperipheral
systemmaybeanyotherhydroacousticproduct(forexampleanechosounderor
sonar),orevenadedicatedsynchronizationsystem.
