TransceiverUnitdescription
TheEK80WideBandTransceiver(WBT)isprovidedtotransmitacousticenergy
throughwater.Thistransmissionandreceptionarecommonlyreferredtoasaping.After
eachtransmission,thetransceiverreceivestheechoesfromthetargetsinthewaterand/or
theseabed.Theseechoesarelteredandampliedandthenconvertedintodigitalformat.
TheEK80softwaresupportsseveraldifferenttransceiverunits.Severaltransceivers
maybeusedsimultanously.
WideBandTransceiver(WBT)
TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)comprisesarugged
boxprovidingallnecessarytransmitterandreceiver
electronics.Thereceiverisdesignedforlownoise,
anditcanhandleinputsignalsspanningaverylarge
instantaneousdynamicamplituderange.Alltargetsare
correctlymeasured.Thetransceiveroperateswithina
largefrequencyband,andsupportssinglefrequencies,
frequencysweep(chirp)anduserdenedwaveforms.
TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)isdesignedforapplicationswhereperformance
isthetoppriority.Ithasfour500Wchannelsthatcaneitherworkindependently
withsinglebeamtransducers,ortogetherwithasplitbeamtransducer.Thedesignis
optimizedforapplicationswherepowerconsumptionandphysicalsizeisnotcritical.
AhighqualityEthernetcableconnectstheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)tothe
ProcessorUnit.ThedistancebetweentheProcessorUnitandthetransceivercanbe
extendeduptomaximum70meters.Ifalongercableisrequired,cutitinhalf,andinsert
anEthernetswitchtoprovidebufferamplication.
TheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)requiresanexternalpowersupplyoffering12to
15Vdc,minimum5A.Asuitablepowersupplyisprovidedwiththedelivery.The
transceivercanalsobepoweredbyalargecapacitybattery.
