Electricalnoise
Thequalityofthepowersupplyiscrucialtoreducenoise.Electricalorelectronicself
noiseispickeduporgeneratedinanyotherpartoftheequipmentthanthetransducer.
Themostcommonsourceofelectricalselfnoiseishum.Thehumisnormallygenerated
byapowersupply.Itisthenpickedupbythetransducercableand/orsensitiveelectronic
circuitry.Athigherfrequencies–whereratherwidebandwidthsarenecessary–the
noisefromcomponents,transistorsorotheranalogueelectronicmaybealimitingfactor.
Note
EnsuremaximumphysicaldistancebetweentheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)andthe
PowerSupplyUnit.Thisisimportanttoreducenoise.

Drydockingrequirements
Wheneveroneormoretransducersaremountedunderthevessel’shull,special
considerationsmustbemadepriortodrydocking.
Makesurethatampleclearanceisprovidedunderthetransducerswhenyouareplacing
thevesselindrydock.Donotplacesupportingblocksorstructuresinthevicinityof
thetransducers.
Notedownthelocationofeachtransduceronthevessel’sdockingplan.
Priortodrydocking,turnofftheEK80.Ifnecessary,disengagethecircuitbreaker.
LabeltheProcessorUnitand/orthecircuitbreakerclearlytopreventanyonefrom
accidentallyturningontheEK80.
