TheEK80WideBandTransceiver(WBT)isnormallypositionedinadedicatedroom
inthevicinityofthetransducer.Thephysicallengthofthecableslimitthedistance
betweeneachtransducerandtheWideBandTransceiver(WBT).TheWideBand
Transceiver(WBT)canbeinstalledverticallyorhorizontallyusingtheintegrated
mountingbrackets.Fourboltsareused,twooneachside.
Prerequisites
AsuitablelocationfortheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)mustbedenedpriorto
installation.Itisnormallypositionedinthesonarroomclosetothetransducer.Theunit
caninprinciplebemountedanywhereonboardtheship,providedthatthelocationis
dryandventilated.
ThelengthofthetransducercableslimitswheretheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)
canbeinstalled.
Youmustbeequippedwithastandardsetoftools.Thistoolsetmustcomprisethe
normaltoolsforelectronicandelectromechanicaltasks.Thisincludesdifferent
screwdrivertypes,pliers,spanners,acablestripper,asolderingiron,etc.Eachtool
mustbeprovidedinvarioussizes.Werecommendthatalltoolsaredemagnetizedto
protectyourequipment.

Theunitcanbemountedinanydirectionandonany
surfaceprovidedthattheenvironmentalrequirements
aremet.

Ifyoumounttheunitonabulkhead,positionitsothat
allthesocketsarefacingdown .
ThesepointsmustallbeconsideredtoreduceelectricalnoiseonanEK80system.
•IfyoumorethanoneWideBandTransceiver(WBT),installtheseinsuchawaythat
thetransducercableshavethemaximumdistancetothepowerandEthernetcables.
•EnsuremaximumphysicaldistancebetweentheWideBandTransceiver(WBT)and
thePowerSupplyUnit.
•EnsuremaximumphysicaldistancebetweeneachPowerSupplyUnit.
•Ifpossible,installthetransceiversinasonarroomthatiselectricallyshielded.
•Makesurethatallunitsareproperlygrounded.
